Ideal Work’s Microtopping® enhances the project’s minimalism through its purity of forms and fluid effect. Blending with the warmth of wood, its concrete surface creates an elegant, functional, and comfortable environment.

In the Netherlands, near the Belgian border, a holiday home in the historic village of Retranchement stands out for its refined simplicity and clear reference to Nordic style. Traditional architecture evolves into a contemporary form, interweaving authentic materials and pure geometries. Large windows define the residence’s volume, blurring the boundary between internal and external spaces and turning the landscape into a natural extension of the interior.

Designed by Jonathan Beekmans, the project follows Nordic aesthetics through a neutral palette, clean lines, and a careful balance between natural light and warm materials. The spaces are shaped by fluid, seamless surfaces, with unique details that lend character to the environment.

Ideal Work’s Microtopping® contributes to this visual purity. Key elements such as the custom fireplace with integrated seating, the kitchen backsplash, and the bathroom vanity top are coated in the same finish, reinforcing the visual and tactile continuity of the interiors. This choice is both functional and aesthetic: the absence of joints makes cleaning easier, and the solution’s textured material adds depth without being intrusive. Microtopping®’s neat lines integrate perfectly with wooden elements, creating harmony between surfaces and emphasizing the perception of a fluid and cohesive space. Thanks to its versatility, this finish adapts to the most diverse surfaces and functions, ensuring durability and ease of maintenance.

Every detail speaks the language of essentiality, materiality, and a meticulous attention to the quality of living. Natural wood warms the light-toned surfaces, while light envelops the interiors in an intimate, relaxed atmosphere. There is no excess or unnecessary adornment—only a precise sense of balance and harmony.

This holiday home doesn’t rely on redundant solutions, but on design coherence and the ability to convey a sense of continuity and calm. The result is a holiday retreat that reflects the soul of the Dutch landscape and the essence of Nordic minimalism at once—a place where design and everyday life meet with warmth and ease.
