Cohete, in Barcelona, is a hybrid concept that brings together restaurant, discobar, and club into a single immersive experience, where design, light, and atmosphere interact seamlessly.
Ideal Work enhances this visual continuity with Solidro, a continuous waterproof surface in vibrant colours, capable of elevating spaces with character and elegance.
In the heart of the Les Corts district in Barcelona stands a venue whose concept defies categorization: Cohete, by the Tragaluz Group, is much more than a restaurant, a nightlife venue, or a club—it is all of these at once.
This original project was designed to invite guests to linger for hours, move through different atmospheres, discover hidden corners shaped by light, and immerse themselves in a complete sensory experience—one in which design does not seek to dominate, but rather to facilitate sharing and interaction.
From a structural perspective, Cohete unfolds across two floors and features three distinct environments: a restaurant with a garden, a discobar, and a “hidden club.” On the ground floor is the Jardín Restaurant; on the upper level, the Cohete Discobar; and also on the ground floor, in an intimate, almost concealed area, lies the G Spot, a club with a house music soul that extends Barcelona’s nightlife into the early hours of the morning.
The interior design, curated by Pilar Líbano, establishes a coherent visual identity throughout the building: green marble, striped finishes, and a colour palette that weaves together light greens, deep reds, intense blues, and absolute blacks. Cohete thrives on a distinctive balance between retro aesthetics, pop culture, and an informal atmosphere. The space strongly evokes the theme of travel and the imagery of space—as suggested by its name (“cohete” means “rocket” in Spanish)—without slipping into cold futurism. On the contrary, the venue conveys a warm, nostalgic vision, punctuated by references to the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, when space still symbolized dreams, discovery, and possibility.
It is no coincidence that the Discobar area is dominated by a “sun”: a large, striking lamp custom-designed by Pol Mas de Xaxas. Inspired by the light-based works of James Turrell and Olafur Eliasson, this luminous sculpture recreates a shifting sun that accompanies the transition from afternoon to evening, marking the rhythm of time within Cohete.
Contributing to the continuity between spaces and reinforcing visual coherence is also the use of Solidro, the new continuous, water-resistant microfinishing by Ideal Work, applied in a custom NCS S 7020-G shade that echoes the dark greens found throughout the venue. Free from epoxy resins and other potentially volatile chemical compounds, Solidro helps preserve indoor air quality and is completely waterproof, offering high resistance to stains and requiring minimal maintenance.
