In Beijing, an apartment defined by an essential aesthetic explores the relationship between materiality, light and architecture. At the heart of the project is Microtopping® by Ideal Work®, which envelops the interiors, enhancing the purity of forms and the fluidity of spaces.

A rigorous architectural language, sculptural volumes and a refined exploration of the balance between solid and void define the identity of this apartment in Beijing Lijing, where minimalism becomes an intimate and immersive living experience. The interiors unfold through a sequence of fluid spaces, characterised by essential geometries, textured surfaces and a colour palette dominated by warm shades of beige and sand.

Bringing visual unity to the entire project is Microtopping® by Ideal Work, a cement-based solution that can cover both horizontal and vertical surfaces in a thickness of just 3 mm, creating a seamless, uniform envelope. Its velvety texture introduces a tactile dimension to the spaces, while sandy tones add depth to the surfaces without compromising the overall compositional rigour.

In the living area, designed as a spacious open-plan environment, the continuous finish enhances the dialogue between architectural elements and furnishings. Microtopping® meets the dark wood of the large built-in cabinets, creating a bold yet balanced chromatic contrast. The fireplace, conceived as a composition of overlapping geometric volumes, becomes a sculptural feature, while the kitchen, with its monolithic island and clean-lined cabinetry, integrates harmoniously into the architecture.

The continuity of the surface softens the rigour of the geometries, while natural light plays a central role in shaping the interiors: filtering through expansive glazed surfaces and horizontal screens, it casts ever-changing patterns across floors and walls, highlighting the subtle texture of the finish. The result is an intimate, contemplative atmosphere in which the material takes on different expressions throughout the day. The furnishings, selected according to a principle of simplicity, complete the project without overpowering its identity. The large light-coloured sofa, stone coffee table, earth-toned armchair and recessed bookcase contribute to a sophisticated domestic environment where every element has its precise place.

In this apartment, Microtopping® goes beyond its role as a simple finish to become an integral part of the architectural language: a seamless surface that unifies the interiors, enhances the relationship between light and volumes, and expresses a contemporary vision of living based on the balance between simplicity, materiality and comfort.
