Designer Moodboards: A Journey Through Materials and Inspiration

Watch the video

When we think of seamless surfaces, our minds often go straight to minimalist or industrial-style interiors. Yet a surface can tell a much richer story, becoming an expressive design element capable of evoking places, atmospheres and cultures.

This idea is at the heart of the collaboration between Ideal Work and interior stylist Cristina Romanello, who has been helping companies and private clients shape design concepts and visual languages for over twenty-five years.

The project takes shape through a series of moodboards inspired by six different destinations, where Ideal Work surfaces become the starting point for creating visual narratives built around colours, textures, materials and inspiration.

Each composition demonstrates how the same surface can take on completely different identities depending on its context, challenging the common perception of concrete and seamless finishes. Carefully curated colour palettes, textures and material combinations create distinctive design scenarios, offering fresh inspiration for interior design projects.

The journey begins in the Tuscan countryside, among timeless landscapes, warm hues and authentic materials.

Tuscany: The Authentic Charm of Materials

Watch the video

The first moodboard pays tribute to the Tuscan countryside, a landscape where warm light, gently rolling hills and natural materials come together to create a timeless aesthetic. It is a quiet, understated beauty, shaped by stone farmhouses, rows of cypress trees and earthy tones that convey a sense of balance and authenticity.

The colour palette revolves around warm, tactile shades, dominated by soft yellows and creamy neutrals. These hues are combined with natural textures and carefully selected details that evoke the rustic elegance of this iconic region, creating a composition that reinterprets tradition through a contemporary lens while suggesting new possibilities for interior design.

To capture this atmosphere, Lixio® was chosen: the seamless surface that reinterprets the timeless appeal of traditional Venetian terrazzo in a contemporary way. The richness of its aggregates and the depth of its texture echo the colours of the Tuscan landscape, creating a harmonious dialogue with the other materials featured in the moodboard. Among them is Terrae-Calce, whose soft, natural texture adds warmth and authenticity, alongside wood, an essential element that reinforces the connection with local tradition. Together, these materials create a coherent design narrative where memory and innovation meet in a contemporary language.
