Ideal Work set to conquer Africa

The range of stamped concrete products officially presented in Nigeria.

On 20th September last, the Ideal Work range of products was officially presented in Lagos in Nigeria to the main representatives of the local construction and building market.
Although Ideal Work is already carrying out two large jobs in the African country - the floors of a prestigious hotel in Lagos and of a residential complex approx. 30 km from the capital - the stamped concrete technology is still practically unknown on the African market.

The opportunity to illustrate Ideal Work’s products came through the presentation of the African Sustainable House (ASH) project – organised by a local building firm in partnership with a German builder – which envisages the building of 10 thousand low-cost prefab homes with low energy consumption. The technology, featuring high standards with regard to thermal insulation, quick erection and resistance to weather even of a catastrophic nature, has been approved by the United Nations for third world countries. Ideal Work is also taking part in the project, which should commence before the end of 2008, by making stamped concrete flooring for the public and external areas.

Representatives of the local, administrative and business community were present at the event, where Luca Seminati - Managing Director of the Treviso company - illustrated the technology of stamped concrete floors, highlighting the main features that could be particularly important for a poor yet technologically fast-growing market such as Nigeria. Highly appreciated aspects from an economic viewpoint are undoubtedly the low cost and ecologicalness of the raw material, fast installation requiring little labour, high resistance to external agents and long life with low maintenance requirements. The possibility of obtaining very high quality aesthetic results that are sufficiently spectacular for African tastes should not, however, be underestimated. The traditional willingness of Ideal Work to provide technical assistance to designers and layers as well as professional training are further aspects that should please prospective African partners very much.

I am convinced that the technology of stamped concrete with its huge versatility can be an extremely interesting solution for the African construction and building market in even apparently very different spheres: whether major public works, low-cost housing or international tourist complexes”.
